Comfort

Posted on July 29, 2005

THOUGHT:

Worry is the darkroom in which negatives can develop.

Challenge

The Lord tells us not to worry. Take his advice. If you feel yourself starting to worry, turn to God in prayer for peace.

Verse

Can any of you by worrying add a moment to your life-span?

Attitude

Posted on July 28, 2005

THOUGHT:

To walk by faith does not mean to stop thinking.

Challenge

To trust God does not mean that we can be lazy and expect God to “bail us out.” The Lord has blessed us with the ability to discern and act in His will. Strengthen your faith today by holding yourself personally responsible for your actions.

Verse

Indeed, we had accepted within ourselves the sentence of death, that we might trust not in ourselves but in God who raises the dead. He rescued us from such great danger of death, and he will continue to rescue us; in him we have put our hope [that] he will also rescue us again,

Service

Posted on July 27, 2005

THOUGHT:

Most people want to serve God, but only in an advisory position.

Challenge

Remember: God needs more hands and less advice. Show others you're a follower of Christ by serving others as He served us.

Verse

Whoever preaches, let it be with the words of God; whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. IV. Advice to the Persecuted - Trial of Persecution.

THOUGHT:

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

Challenge

Read this line very slowly and let it sink in... If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it. Remember that He loves you, and that he will get you through everything you encounter.

Forgiveness

Posted on July 21, 2005

THOUGHT:

We are most like beasts when we kill. We are most like men when we judge. We are most like God when we forgive.

Challenge

It is not easy to forgive those who have deeply hurt us, but they are likely the ones who need our love the most. Forgive them and let the light of God shine through you.

Verse

THOUGHT:

Through indecision opportunity is often lost.

Challenge

Ask God to give you the courage and the energy to act on your instincts instead of just pondering the consequences.

A sculptor was asked how he could carve a lion’s head out of a large block of marble. “I just chip away everything that doesn’t look like a lion’s head,” was his reply.
