Praise

Posted on April 28, 2006

THOUGHT:

What if God couldn't take the time to bless us today because we couldn't take the time to thank Him yesterday?

Challenge

Think of all the blessings God has provided you. Make it a priority today to thank Him.

Verse

To you, God of my ancestors, I give thanks and praise, because you have given me wisdom and power. Now you have shown me what we asked of you, you have made known to us the king’s dream.”

Comfort

Posted on April 27, 2006

THOUGHT:

People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges.

Challenge

Open up to someone new today. Let your guard down, and tell them something about you that helps each of you grow closer together.

Verse

We have spoken frankly to you, Corinthians; our heart is open wide.

2 Corinthians 6:11

Empathy

Posted on April 26, 2006

THOUGHT:

People don't care how much you know, unless they know how much you care.

Challenge

Make a concious effort to listen with empathy to those around you today. Don't tell anyone about your day if you haven't heard about theirs.

Verse

III. Exhortations and Warnings - Doers of the Word. Know this, my dear brothers: everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath,

Empathy

Posted on April 25, 2006

THOUGHT:

Listen to yourself with your head. Listen to others with your heart.

Challenge

How often do we analyze the situation without feeling the pain of those in it? Take a minute and truly listen to the people who come to you with your heart and offer the help Christ would provide.

Verse

Whoever confers benefits will be amply enriched, and whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Praise

THOUGHT:

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

Challenge

Tonight when you pray, don’t ask for anything. Just count God’s blessings, and as you add each one to your list, thank Him.

Verse

The Father’s Plan of Salvation. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens,

Change

Posted on April 21, 2006

THOUGHT:

The meaning of life is to give life meaning.

Challenge

Escape to a quiet place today and examine your everyday routine. Ask God to inspire your positive spirit to recognize you are not too busy or afraid to reach out and find ways for you to get involved in a couple of things that would add more meaning to your life each day. After you identify the opportunities, the next and most important step is to act on it! Take more control of your life and who you are…One day at a time.

Verse

Obedience. Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, live soberly, and set your hopes completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Love

Posted on April 20, 2006

THOUGHT:

The love of God is like the ocean, you can see its beginning, but not its end.

Challenge

We can never comprehend (or match) the vastness of God's love, but we can become an extension of it. Show God your appreciation by giving His love to someone today.

Verse

We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us. God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him.

Prayer

Posted on April 19, 2006

THOUGHT:

Prayer should be our first resource, not our last resort.

Challenge

We often feel compelled to pray when we are worried, anxious or “at the end of our rope.” Don’t wait. Right now, ask God for the peace and strength to face your anxieties before they come.

Verse

Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.

Forgiveness

Posted on April 18, 2006

THOUGHT:

When you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

Challenge

Take a few minutes today before prayer, be honest with yourself, and think of at least one thing that is making you bitter. Commit yourself to putting it behind you, forgiving and forgetting. Begin your prayers by asking God to give you the strength to see your commitment through.

Verse

Another dies with a bitter spirit, never having tasted happiness.

Prayer

THOUGHT:

Life is fragile – handle with prayer.

Challenge

Life is very uncertain. Prepare yourself today and everyday for life’s obstacles by beginning your day with prayer. Don’t wait for troubles.

Verse

Tell the rich in the present age not to be proud and not to rely on so uncertain a thing as wealth but rather on God, who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment.

Discipleship

Posted on April 14, 2006

Make a special mental note today that you are here for God. Make sure your actions are pleasing to Him because everything else will fall into place if you have the right focus.

My strength and my refuge is the LORD, and he has become my savior. This is my God, I praise him; the God of my father, I extol him.

Prayer

Posted on April 13, 2006

THOUGHT:

Prayer is not a way to get what we want, but the way to become what God wants.

Challenge

Take a deep breath and clear your mind. Now prayerfully ask God what He wants of you today.

Verse

Entreat him and he will hear you, and your vows you shall fulfill.

Habits

THOUGHT:

When you're all wrong and admit it, you're all right

Challenge

Christ doesn't expect us to be perfect. The next time you know you're wrong, don't make excuses; admit your mistake and fix the problem. A simple apology will go a long way.

Verse

Then I declared my sin to you; my guilt I did not hide. I said, “I confess my transgression to the LORD,” and you took away the guilt of my sin. Selah

Attitude

Posted on April 11, 2006

THOUGHT:

People are about as happy as they decide they are going to be.

Challenge

Remember that you can only get as much out of life as you put into it. Enjoy every situation you encounter today, and remember to share your faith with others as you go. Maybe you can make their days brighter too.

Verse

Psalm 119 A Prayer to God, the Lawgiver Aleph - Blessed those whose way is blameless, who walk by the law of the LORD.

Prayer

Posted on April 10, 2006

THOUGHT:

God is everywhere, so pray anywhere.

Challenge

In addition to your daily prayer routine. Pick a different place to say a prayer. Don’t be afraid to pray in a public place – God is there.

Verse

Constant Prayer. With all prayer and supplication, pray at every opportunity in the Spirit. To that end, be watchful with all perseverance and supplication for all the holy ones

Habits

Posted on April 7, 2006

THOUGHT:

Does your spiritual house need a spring cleaning?

Challenge

Take a moment to think of something in your daily routine that prevents you from devoting more time to praising God. Clean this out of your spiritual house and make more room for God.

Verse

Chapter 5 - Our Future Destiny. For we know that if our earthly dwelling, a tent, should be destroyed, we have a building from God, a dwelling not made with hands, eternal in heaven.

Faith

Posted on April 6, 2006

THOUGHT:

Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible!

Challenge

As Christians we are called to have faith and believe.  Trust in God even when times are darkest.

Verse

God indeed is my salvation; I am confident and unafraid. For the LORD is my strength and my might, and he has been my salvation.

Comfort

Posted on April 5, 2006

The Will of God never takes you to where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Challenge

Follow God’s path for you today with confidence, not only that it is the right path but that God will be at your side protecting you.

Verse

Everything indeed is for you, so that the grace bestowed in abundance on more and more people may cause the thanksgiving to overflow for the glory of God.

Vocation

Posted on April 3, 2006

THOUGHT:

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.

Challenge

A simple goal for today: Give more than you receive (kindness, mentoring, encouragement, etc…)

Verse

Moreover, the pasture land belonging to their cities shall not be sold at all; it must always remain their possession. When one of your kindred is reduced to poverty and becomes indebted to you, you shall support that person like a resident alien; let your kindred live with you. Do not exact interest in advance or accrued interest, but out of fear of God let your kindred live with you.
