The purpose of confession is not to clear your conscience; it is to change your behavior.

Prayer

Posted on October 23, 2006

THOUGHT:

A grandfather was walking through his yard when he heard his granddaughter repeating the alphabet in a tone of voice that sounded like a prayer. He asked her what she was doing. The little girl explained, "I'm praying, but I can't think of exactly the right words, so I'm just saying all the letters, and God will put them together for me, because He knows what I'm thinking."

Challenge

Remember today that God knows what you are thinking. He is not concerned how eloquently you pray but rather he is grateful that you remembered to pray.

Verse

“As for you, Solomon, my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and a willing soul, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the mind’s thoughts. If you search for him, he will be found; but if you abandon him, he will cast you off forever.

Discipleship

Posted on October 11, 2006

THOUGHT:

Discipleship is following Jesus, not expecting Him to follow us.

Challenge

Jesus is our model for greatness, who came to serve instead of being served. As you pray today, ask Him how you can serve. Keep your eyes open for the opportunity that will surely come your way.

But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you will be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.
