Kindness

Posted on February 29, 2008

THOUGHT:

Kindness often consists in loving people more than they deserve.

Challenge

Always be kind to others, regardless of what you think they deserve. God put us on earth to serve one another, not to judge one another.

Verse

See that no one returns evil for evil; rather, always seek what is good [both] for each other and for all.

THOUGHT:

Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us daily.

Challenge

Don't wait for a great opportunity to help someone. Take advantage of all the small opportunities you have today. Each one has the potential to have great results.

Verse

But you say, ‘Whoever says to father or mother, “Any support you might have had from me is dedicated to God,”

THOUGHT:

You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.

Challenge

Doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you is somewhat contrary in today's culture, but it is very consistent with God's teaching. Strive to live a perfect day.

Verse

The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper with the instruction, ‘Take care of him. If you spend more than what I have given you, I shall repay you on my way back.’ Which of these three, in your opinion, was neighbor to the robbers’ victim?”

THOUGHT:

Every blade of grass has its own Angel that bends over it and whispers, "Grow, Grow"

Challenge

Sometimes it is easy to get lost in the crowd and feel your life is not significant. Just as God is concerned with the growth of each blade of glass, allow your heart to be filled with the joy of knowing that God loves you and has a specific plan just for you.

Verse

Are not five sparrows sold for two small coins? Yet not one of them has escaped the notice of God. Even the hairs of your head have all been counted. Do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows. I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before others the Son of Man will acknowledge before the angels of God.

THOUGHT:

Look at a day when you are supremely satisfied at the end. It’s not a day when you lounge around doing nothing; it’s when you’ve had everything to do, and you’ve done it.

Challenge

God wants well accomplished sheep in His flock. Remember to be all that you can be today and every day – you will find an inner peace and satisfaction knowing you have accomplished your best.

Verse

LORD, you will decree peace for us, for you have accomplished all we have done.

Courage

Posted on February 22, 2008

THOUGHT:

You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms too full to embrace the present.

Challenge

Ask God for the courage to focus less on “the way things used to be”, and to find ways to live more fully today and to look forward to tomorrow.

Verse

On a good day enjoy good things, and on an evil day consider: Both the one and the other God has made, so that no one may find the least fault with him.

Policemen’s motto: “To Protect and to Serve.”

Priorities

We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.

Kindness

THOUGHT:

Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate.

Challenge

Make kindness a daily habit. The benefits might not be immediately realized, but over time, will break down barriers.

Verse

[And] be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.

THOUGHT:

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

Challenge

Don't underestimate the impact you have on those around you. Make the extra effort today, no matter how small, to do something positive for someone. A little good goes a long way.

Verse

As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.

THOUGHT:

Good actions are the invisible hinges on the doors of Heaven.

Challenge

People often overlook the value of the hinges on a door but the door would not function without them. Likewise, a Christian community cannot thrive without good actions. Every time you open a door let it serve as a reminder to do a good action.

Verse

We are not boasting beyond measure, in other people’s labors; yet our hope is that, as your faith increases, our influence among you may be greatly enlarged, within our proper limits,

THOUGHT:

The price of hating other human beings is loving oneself less.

Challenge

Give a gift of love to someone and see how you feel. The key is that the gift has to be one out of Christ's Love. Think about what that gift should be, and then act upon it.

Verse

I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.

THOUGHT:

Heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

Challenge

Christians have always faced challenges, heckling, and even punishment by nonbelievers for expressing their faith. Jesus gave his life so that we could be forgiven and all he asked is that we believe in Him. Be a Hero and share your faith with others – it needs to be done…

Verse

Then the angel said to the women in reply, “Do not be afraid! I know that you are seeking Jesus the crucified. He is not here, for he has been raised just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him.’ Behold, I have told you.”

THOUGHT:

Temptation usually comes through a door that has deliberately been left open.

Challenge

Today marks the day that many Christians remember the temptation that faced Jesus in the desert – the temptation over which He prevailed. Think of a temptation in your life that is difficult for you to control, and that you would like to see gone from your life forever. Commit to yourself and to God in prayer, that you will control this temptation for the next 40 days. You might find that you can close that door completely.
