Empathy

Posted on March 31, 2008

THOUGHT:

A perceptive person has the ability to accurately see the big picture from the viewpoint of others. The highest form of being perceptive would be to see life the way God does.

Challenge

Take a different perspective when talking with people today. Try to understand their perspective and make decisions based on their needs, not yours. If you're up to the challenge, try to perceive them as Jesus would.

Verse

You know when I sit and stand; you understand my thoughts from afar.

By participating in the Last Supper, Jesus finished the old ceremony (Passover) that we might be a part of a new celebration.

Challenge

Today we celebrate the Last Supper when Jesus had upheld the old tradition of celebrating Passover with His closest friends, but at the same time formed a new covenant with His followers. As you sit down to dinner tonight, remember the covenant He made with us on that night.

Wisdom

Posted on March 7, 2008

THOUGHT:

We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects.

Challenge

Ask God for the wisdom to recognize that your true happiness here on earth is magnified by allowing others into your life in a meaningful way.

Verse

Chapter 4 - Testing the Spirits. Beloved, do not trust every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they belong to God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can know the Spirit of God: every spirit that acknowledges Jesus Christ come in the flesh belongs to God, and every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus does not belong to God. This is the spirit of the antichrist that, as you heard, is to come, but in fact is already in the world. You belong to God, children, and you have conquered them, for the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They belong to the world; accordingly, their teaching belongs to the world, and the world listens to them.
