THOUGHT:

Are you fit company for the person you wish to become?

Challenge

The best way to become the person you want to be is to start acting like that person right now. Hopefully, your plan for whom you want to be is consistent with God’s plan for you. If you’re not sure, just ask Him and He will show you the way.

Verse

God had foreseen something better for us, so that without us they should not be made perfect.

THOUGHT:

Books are the carriers of civilization. Without books, history is silent, literature dumb, science crippled, thought and speculation at a standstill.

Challenge

Carry your civilization, the Bible, with you today (or at least carry it off the end table) and read it. Don’t let God’s word be silent in your life or your faith may encounter a standstill.

Verse

And that from infancy you have known [the] sacred scriptures, which are capable of giving you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

THOUGHT:

Since God knows what's best for you, you should gratefully accept the way he fashioned you.

Challenge

God loves each of us as we are. He did not make a mistake with you and you have a specific purpose to serve. If you're not sure how God plans to use you, take a quiet moment and think about what you enjoy and what you're good at. Spend more of your time using the skills you enjoy to help others and to serve God.

Verse

But who indeed are you, a human being, to talk back to God? Will what is made say to its maker, “Why have you created me so?” Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for a noble purpose and another for an ignoble one?

THOUGHT:

We think too small. Like the frog at the bottom of the well. He thinks the sky is only as big as the top of the well. If he surfaced, he would have an entirely different view.

Challenge

Broaden your view of your world by opening your mind and your senses to the beauty God has provided all around you. Think bigger about God's plan for you and find a way to serve Him. The sky is the limit.

Verse

You shall be cast out from human society and dwell with wild beasts; you shall be given grass to eat like an ox and be bathed with the dew of heaven; seven years shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High is sovereign over human kingship and gives it to whom he will.

THOUGHT:

Your good fortune lies not only in what blessings God gives you, but in how you receive them.

Challenge

Receive all your blessings with a heart-felt thanks to God. Look for them, count them, recognize them, and most of all appreciate them as a gift from God.

Verse

All this I do for the sake of the gospel, so that I too may have a share in it. Do you not know that the runners in the stadium all run in the race, but only one wins the prize? Run so as to win.

We are not lost because we are going to end up in the wrong place. We are going to end up in the wrong place because we are lost.

Challenge

Open your bible today and imagine seeing one of those “YOU ARE HERE” stamps on every page. You will never be lost if you use God’s word as your map.

THOUGHT:

In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.

Challenge

Conflicts are inevitable, but the intensity of the argument is only increased by bringing up issues that you should have put to rest. In your disagreements, remember the lesson from Isaiah: do not dwell on the past.

THOUGHT:

Our ideas, like orange-plants, spread out in proportion to the size of the box which imprisons the roots.

Challenge

It is important to “think outside the box,” but it is more important to step outside the box. Seek courage from God today in order to act on an idea that you have kept locked up inside of you.

Verse

I command you: be strong and steadfast! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD, your God, is with you wherever you go.

THOUGHT:

Life’s tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.

Challenge

Unfortunately, you can impose no influence on the pace of time; however, you do have the ability to impact your wisdom. All the wisdom you need can be found in Bible. Find time to read it eagerly each week and you'll find your wisdom cheating your age.

Verse

So with old age is wisdom, and with length of days understanding.

All God's Giants were once weak (4 of 5): Impulsive weak-willed Peter became "a rock."

All God's Giants were once weak (3 of 5): Not once, but twice, Abraham claimed his wife was his sister to protect himself. Even still God transformed Abraham into, "the father of those who have faith."

Challenge

When challenged with a tough situation, don't give in to the temptation to lie to protect your image. Be proud of the fact that you're a child of God and never compromise your values.

Verse

And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal on the righteousness received through faith while he was uncircumcised. Thus he was to be the father of all the uncircumcised who believe, so that to them [also] righteousness might be credited,
