Evangelism

THOUGHT:

Everybody is like a magnet. You attract to yourself reflections of that which you are. If you're friendly, then everybody else seems to be friendly too.

Challenge

What are you attracting to yourself? If it is not what you want, examine who you are. Become a reflection of the person God wants you to be. Need help? Ask Him.

Verse

As face mirrors face in water, so the heart reflects the person.

THOUGHT:

Hope never abandons you, you abandon it.

Challenge

Like hope, faith doesn’t abandon you. Ask God for the strength and perseverance to embrace your faith even in trying times. It is then that you will need it most.

Verse

But since we are of the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love and the helmet that is hope for salvation.

THOUGHT:

A church is a hospital for sinners, not a museum for saints.

Challenge

Check in as often as you need for some healing. Your heavenly “Doctor” is always there waiting to tend your wounds.

Verse

Jesus heard this and said to them [that], “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” The Question About Fasting.

THOUGHT:

Pride is the hardest thing to recognize in ourselves, but the easiest thing to point out in others.

Challenge

Pointing out the faults in others is a sure symptom of your own pride. If you catch yourself doing this today, stop and pray for humility. Let God catch you before you fall.

Verse

Pride goes before disaster, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Change

Posted on September 26, 2011

THOUGHT:

When you become reluctant to change, remind yourself of the beauty of autumn.

Challenge

What part of your life has become mundane? With a focus on Christ's examples, spend a minute reflecting on ways to energize your life through a change for the better.

Verse

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, for wisdom and power are his. He causes the changes of the times and seasons, establishes kings and deposes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who understand.

THOUGHT:

All is right with the world and God when all you need is what you already have.

Challenge

Do you already have all that you need? If God counts you as one of His children the answer will always be “Yes.” Take a moment to thank Him right now for His guidance and strength.

Verse

Then the LORD will guide you always and satisfy your thirst in parched places, will give strength to your bones And you shall be like a watered garden, like a flowing spring whose waters never fail.

THOUGHT:

We are the Bible the world is reading; we are the creeds the world is needing; we are the sermons the world is heeding.

In all my perplexities and distresses, the Bible has never failed to give me light and strength.

Challenge

Use the Bible today and every day as your source of power to overcome your troubles. After all, isn’t that what God intended for His Holy Word?

Verse

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting encouragement and good hope through his grace, encourage your hearts and strengthen them in every good deed and word.

Faith

Posted on September 20, 2011

THOUGHT:

Hope is like a road in the country; there was never a road, but when many people walk on it, the road comes into existence.

Challenge

Before Christ’s example, there was not a clear path to salvation. Christ paid the ultimate price to blaze a trail for you to reach salvation. Let hope and faith guide your way down that path each and every day.

Verse

In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised holy Spirit,

Faith

Posted on September 19, 2011

THOUGHT:

The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make one.

Challenge

Fear not! Have faith! When you make mistakes, learn from them. The only thing you truly have to fear is temptation – fight that through your faith and knowing that the Holy Spirit is always at your side.

Verse

Guard this rich trust with the help of the holy Spirit that dwells within us.

THOUGHT:

Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man. – C. S. Lewis

Challenge

If you need to desire more of anything, desire more of God in your life. Do so and you can’t help but be humble.

Verse

Likewise, you younger members, be subject to the presbyters. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for: “God opposes the proud but bestows favor on the humble.”

Let us endeavor so to live that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry. – Mark Twain

The best way to leave your mark in this world is to follow in the steps of the One who left us a perfect example of how to live. Read again your favorite Gospel, and commit to being a more devoted follower of Christ.

Verse

For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in his footsteps.

Gratitude

Posted on September 14, 2011

THOUGHT:

If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

Challenge

Count all your blessings today – the good and the not-so-good. When you start comparing the blessings with the problems, the blessings always overcome the problems, especially when you factor in the gift of eternal life. It’s hard to beat that one!

Verse

All this I do for the sake of the gospel, so that I too may have a share in it.

THOUGHT:

The grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.

Challenge

THOUGHT:

Good choices bring us closer to God and His protection from harm.

Challenge

Bad choices often result in guilty feelings and it is hard for many of us to face God under these circumstances. Make good choices but when you slip don’t be afraid to ask God for his forgiveness. Good or bad – get close to God.

Verse

He chose to be ill-treated along with the people of God rather than enjoy the fleeting pleasure of sin.

THOUGHT:

God is so big He can cover the whole world with his Love and so small He can curl up inside your heart.

Everything comes out right in the end, if it isn’t right, it isn’t the end.
