Anxiety

Posted on August 31, 2012

THOUGHT:

Frame all of your daily worries with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"

Challenge

It's too easy to get consumed with daily worries. Make your decisions and move on. If you are living and deciding as Christ commands, then leave the results to Him.

Verse

Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.

Challenge

Don't focus on improving the superficial elements in your life. Rather, spend time doing a facelift of things that really matter. Start with your faith, your friends and your family.

THOUGHT:

Those who dance are often considered insane by those who cannot hear the music.

Challenge

Dance the tune of your faith to everyone you encounter. Let those deaf to the Word of God be transformed by your insanity. Pray that the Holy Spirit spins His music for them.

Verse

Anyone who is so “progressive” as not to remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God; whoever remains in the teaching has the Father and the Son.

Peace

Posted on August 24, 2012

THOUGHT:

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not claiming to be perfect. My flaws are visible, but God believes I am worth it.

Challenge

Go forward today with hope, knowing that God loves you – flaws and all. He doesn’t expect you to be perfect, in fact, He expects you NOT to be perfect. That is why He sent His Son to be your savior.

Verse

On the one hand, a former commandment is annulled because of its weakness and uselessness, for the law brought nothing to perfection; on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.

Grace

Posted on August 22, 2012

THOUGHT:

When I say... "I am a Christian" I'm not holier than thou, I'm just a simple sinner who received God's good grace, somehow.

Challenge

Take a moment right now to pause, read the bible verse below and just say, “Lord I receive Your grace today.” Thank Him for this ever-present gift.

Service

Posted on August 21, 2012

THOUGHT:

I dreamt and life was joy.  I awoke and life was service.  I acted and service was joy!

Challenge

We all have experienced the joy of giving, and it has often been said that you get more out of giving than receiving.  Wake up today and start looking for ways to serve others, then ACT ON IT IMMEDIATELY. It will change your life!

Verse

Consider this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

THOUGHT:

Your friends are like elevator buttons…they can either take you up or down.

Challenge

What buttons have you been choosing lately?  As you make your decisions each day on what buttons to push, make sure you are riding with God at your side.  He will make sure you end up on the right floor.

Goals

Posted on August 17, 2012

THOUGHT:

Great ambition and conquest without contribution is without significance.

Challenge

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having lofty personal goals. Just be sure your goals embody your Christian values and your personal accomplishments provide some level of contribution to the well-being of those around you. Otherwise, your personal success is really quite hollow and insignificant.

Verse

Treasure in Heaven. “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and decay destroy, and thieves break in and steal. But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be. The Light of the Body.

THOUGHT:

Complain and Remain…The words in your mouth can be prison bars.

Challenge

Why complain? – All it does is trap you in an unrelenting negative state of mind. Free yourself from your troubles by taking positive actions and surrounding yourself with positive people. Ask God for the strength to take that first step.

Verse

No foul language should come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for needed edification, that it may impart grace to those who hear.

Discipleship

Posted on August 15, 2012

THOUGHT:

If you don’t live by the way you believe, you will soon believe the way you live.

Challenge

Pause for a moment today and think about the values you hold dear.  Are you a living example of a person with these values?  If not, ask God for the strength and honesty to reexamine your moral compass.  Now, believe in it, and more importantly, follow it.

Verse

So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Attitude

Posted on August 13, 2012

THOUGHT:

Long-term success has more to do with being resilient than always making the right decisions.

Challenge

Focus your energy on overcoming your adversities and obstacles instead of spinning around in fear of making the wrong decision.  If you listen, God will always point you in the right direction.

Verse

Temptation. Blessed is the man who perseveres in temptation, for when he has been proved he will receive the crown of life that he promised to those who love him. No one experiencing temptation should say, “I am being tempted by God”; for God is not subject to temptation to evil, and he himself tempts no one. Rather, each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire conceives and brings forth sin, and when sin reaches maturity it gives birth to death.
