Grace

Posted on February 28, 2014

THOUGHT:

There is nothing more important to learn about Christian growth than this: Growing in grace means becoming like Christ.

Challenge

Spend some time studying what the bible says about grace. Take some quiet time to think about what you’ve read. Thank God in prayer for what you’ve learned.

Verse

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so no one may boast.

THOUGHT:

Gossip speaks volumes of the character of the speaker.

Challenge

Don't gossip - Period. Perhaps more importantly, speak up and turn negative conversations into something more positive. Speak as if God was present in all of your conversations - He is.

Verse

No foul language should come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for needed edification, that it may impart grace to those who hear.

Wisdom

THOUGHT:

The summit of happiness is reached when a person is ready to be what he is.

Challenge

God made you who you are and He doesn’t make mistakes. He also designed a path to happiness for you. Identify your God-given strengths and use those as you pursue His plan for you.

Verse

But you are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may announce the praises” of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

THOUGHT:

Every song has an ending, but is that any reason not to enjoy the music?

Challenge

Conduct your life and enjoy each day as if it were your last. Make the most of it. Don’t put off strengthening your faith, complimenting and encouraging those you love, and dancing to the music of life. You’ll always be glad you did.

Verse

Tell the rich in the present age not to be proud and not to rely on so uncertain a thing as wealth but rather on God, who richly provides us with all things for our enjoyment.

Discipleship

Posted on February 24, 2014

THOUGHT:

The Church doesn’t need people operating under their own power, the Church needs people operating under the power of God.

Challenge

Are you still trying to do things by yourself? Take a quick assessment of the things you are trying to accomplish today. Have you asked God for the power, courage and wisdom to accomplish your tasks? If not, tap into His power.

Verse

For I am not ashamed of the gospel. It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: for Jew first, and then Greek. For in it is revealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith; as it is written, “The one who is righteous by faith will live.”

THOUGHT:

Taking an interest in what others are thinking and doing is often a much more powerful form of encouragement than praise.

Challenge

Listen. Learn. Take an interest in the needs of those around you. Then use what you’ve learned to provide the encouragement and the help to assist those in need.

Verse

May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one another, in keeping with Christ Jesus,

Comfort

Posted on February 20, 2014

THOUGHT:

Comfort streams immediately from God himself, as light shines from the sun; and sometimes beams itself into the meanest corners of the darkest rooms.

Challenge

It seems that lately the news has been filled with many disasters and some ask “Where is God?” Pain in our life is inevitable, but we must have faith that God is there to provide comfort to those who are hurting. The next time you hear about a tragedy, pray that God will embrace those impacted with his loving arms.

Verse

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff comfort me.

THOUGHT:

“The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.”

Challenge

God already loves you. All you have to do is let Him enter your life and He will change you into someone special. God has created you for more than the life you are currently living.

Verse

Know, then, that the LORD, your God, is God: the faithful God who keeps covenant mercy to the thousandth generation toward those who love him and keep his commandments,

Encouragement

Posted on February 17, 2014

THOUGHT:

If we were only logical, the future would be bleak indeed. But we are more than logical. We are human beings, and we have faith, and we have hope.

Challenge

There are situations in our world that can be very discouraging. Choose to regard them with a sense of hope and be attentive to God's signs that will lead you to a solution that is pleasing to both you and Him.

Verse

Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer.

Men trust their ears less than their eyes.

Encouragement

Posted on February 13, 2014

THOUGHT:

Correction does much, but encouragement does more.

Challenge

Use your power of persuasion to encourage those around you at every opportunity. Use it for correction sparingly and only if it provides true value. Seek God’s guidance to give you direction.

Verse

If one exhorts, in exhortation; if one contributes, in generosity; if one is over others, with diligence; if one does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

Priorities

Posted on February 11, 2014

THOUGHT:

The most important thing in our lives is what we are doing now.

Challenge

Don’t be obsessed with your long-term plans and goals.  Spend more time living in the moment and doing the daily things that bring you happiness and peace of mind.

Verse

So do not worry and say, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear?’ All these things the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom [of God] and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil.

Do what you can with what you have where you are.

Challenge

Today, “Do what you can with what you have where you are” and don’t miss an opportunity to better yourself and serve others. The opportunities to serve are all around you all the time. What are you waiting for?

Verse

Your every act should be done with love. I urge you, brothers—you know that the household of Stephanas is the firstfruits of Achaia and that they have devoted themselves to the service of the holy ones— be subordinate to such people and to everyone who works and toils with them. I rejoice in the arrival of Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus, because they made up for your absence,

THOUGHT:

The obstacle is the path.

Challenge

Too often we spend too much time preparing the path for the person; when we should be preparing the person for the path. Ask God for the humility to focus on how we can improve ourselves in a way that will be pleasing to Him rather than worrying about the next path we think we need to take in our life.

Verse

But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory now and to the day of eternity. [Amen.]

THOUGHT:

The first person you are accountable to is yourself. It's imperative that you know what your key values are because they set the standards for how you will live.

Challenge

What are YOUR key values? Write them down and read them each day. Make sure you are accountable to the man in the mirror.

Verse

And the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating shall be beaten only lightly. Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more. Jesus: A Cause of Division.

Christianity is not a behavioral modification program – we are to be transformed into someone new.

Challenge

Don’t settle for a faith that just modifies your behavior. Allow your faith to drive your actions and ask God to make a significant change in you.

Verse

All of us, gazing with unveiled face on the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, as from the Lord who is the Spirit.

THOUGHT:

You can't rewrite your beginning, but you can start today and make a new ending.

Challenge

If you are sincerely interested in changing your outcomes, what specifically are you doing today to make that happen? Start today doing a little bit more, giving more of yourself, sharing your blessings, and showing kindness and encouragement to everyone around you. Think of the transformation of Saul to Paul as your guide – do this and you’ll rewrite your ending to be something magnificent.

Verse

The Signs Come to Pass. As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed his heart. That very day all these signs came to pass….
