Thought:In general, people are not drawn to perfection in other people. People are drawn to shared interests, shared problems and mostly to another’s life energy.
Challenge:Humans connect with humans. Hiding your humanity and trying to project an image of perfection actually makes you less attractive to others. Only God is perfect. Strive to be more like Him by being humble, charitable and loving to all you meet. You will attract attention for the right reasons.
Reference:Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philipians 3: 12-14 (NABRE)
Thought:How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and the strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these.
Challenge:As you encounter others today, recognize that their behavior is largely the result of where they are at this phase of their life. Ask God’s help to provide you with the patience, insight and wisdom to treat them with the “Golden Rule.”
Reference:The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’There is no commandment greater than these. Mark 12:31 (NABRE)
Thought:I can accept failure, but I can’t accept not trying.
Challenge:Don’t be discouraged by life’s obstacles. Some of the greatest successes spawned from what individuals thought were failures. Take an active role today and make sure you are doing everything you can to succeed. Only God knows where you’ll end up.
Reference:Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong. Not that people will see that we have stood the test but that you will do what is right even though we may seem to have failed. 2 Corinthians 13:7 (NABRE)
Thought:Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.
Challenge:Allow your personal frustration to be a wakeup call. Seek God’s help to help you visualize where you want to go and the best route to get there. You’ll find that you’ll sleep a lot better!
Reference:In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17 (NABRE)
Thought:God Himself doesn’t propose to judge a man until he is dead. So why should you?
Challenge:Follow God’s example by discovering the good in others and treating them without prejudice. Leave the judging up to God.
Reference:Do not judge, or you too will be judged. Matthew 7:1 (NABRE)
Thought:Challenges are what make life interesting; overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.
Challenge:Take a moment and think about your personal goals. Set aside some time this week to overcome the challenges necessary to reach at least one of your goals. You may not completely accomplish your goal this week, but you will definitely add more purpose and meaning to your life.
Reference:Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9 (NABRE)
Thought:Once God forgives you, all traces of your past offenses are gone. His forgiveness wipes away any feelings of guilt or blame.
Challenge:Take comfort in this forgiveness and spend a minute talking with God right now. Thank him for letting go, and giving you a second chance.
