Peace

Posted on January 31, 2017

THOUGHT:

To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one's family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one's own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.

Challenge

Take control of your mind through an ongoing dialogue with God. Prayer, meditation, and quiet time with Him will clear your mind and allow you to see more clearly His plan for you. It is through this process you will find the control, enlightenment and peace we all long for in our lives.

Verse

Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Character

Posted on January 30, 2017

THOUGHT:

In general, people are not drawn to perfection in other people. People are drawn to shared interests, shared problems and mostly to another's life energy.

Challenge

Humans connect with humans. Hiding your humanity and trying to project an image of perfection actually makes you less attractive to others. Only God is perfect. Strive to be more like Him by being humble, charitable and loving to all you meet. You will attract attention for the right reasons.

Verse

It is not that I have already taken hold of it or have already attained perfect maturity, but I continue my pursuit in hope that I may possess it, since I have indeed been taken possession of by Christ [Jesus]. Brothers, I for my part do not consider myself to have taken possession. Just one thing: forgetting what lies behind but straining forward to what lies ahead, I continue my pursuit toward the goal, the prize of God’s upward calling, in Christ Jesus.

Empathy

Posted on January 27, 2017

THOUGHT:

How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and the strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these.

Challenge

As you encounter others today, recognize that their behavior is largely the result of where they are at this phase of their life. Ask God's help to provide you with the patience, insight and wisdom to treat them with the “Golden Rule.”

Verse

The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
