Peace

Posted on July 31, 2019

THOUGHT:

The Lord didn't do it all in one day. What makes me think I can?

Challenge

Stop and smell the roses today. Treat yourself to some peaceful time alone with God. You will be glad you did, and refreshed to do more tomorrow.

THOUGHT:

The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches, but reveal to them their own.

Challenge

With genuine kindness and sincere concern, find a way today to make everyone you meet feel good about themselves. Bringing out the best of those around you is the greatest donation you can ever make.

Goals

Posted on July 29, 2019

THOUGHT:

God is less concerned about what you have done in the past than what He plans to do through you in the future.

Challenge

Take a moment and thank Christ for the gift of grace which frees you from your past. With the burden of past sins removed, go forth with renewed vigor to serve God.

Verse

If these are yours and increase in abundance, they will keep you from being idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Anyone who lacks them is blind and shortsighted, forgetful of the cleansing of his past sins.

Comfort

Posted on July 26, 2019

THOUGHT:

A wise person will carefully keep the pathway open to the house of reason and go there regularly to listen.

Challenge

Fill your "house of reason" with God's word. When you are feeling troubled, enter it, listen and go forward with confidence knowing that your path will be set straight.

Verse

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

There's always a helping hand at the end of your sleeve.

Remember that God put those hands there, so you can pray, help yourself, and help others. Pick one of those right now and get those hands busy.

Wisdom

THOUGHT:

The ultimate freedom we have as human beings is the power to select what we will allow our minds to dwell upon.

Challenge

It is in our mind where the Word of God first moves us to align our thoughts with God and His way. Take a moment to clear your mind and dwell upon a passage from the Bible. Pull your mind back to God throughout the day when you feel your thoughts drifting away.

Verse

Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.

THOUGHT:

We are not lost because we are going to end up in the wrong place. We are going to end up in the wrong place because we are lost.

Challenge

Open your bible today and imagine seeing one of those “YOU ARE HERE” stamps on every page. You will never be lost if you use God’s word as your map.

THOUGHT:

In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.

Challenge

Conflicts are inevitable, but the intensity of the argument is only increased by bringing up issues that you should have put to rest. In your disagreements, remember the lesson from Isaiah: do not dwell on the past.

Verse

Remember not the events of the past, the things of long ago consider not;

THOUGHT:

Our ideas, like orange-plants, spread out in proportion to the size of the box which imprisons the roots.

Challenge

It is important to “think outside the box,” but it is more important to step outside the box. Seek courage from God today in order to act on an idea that you have kept locked up inside of you.`

THOUGHT:

All God's Giants were once weak (5 of 5): After several horrible sins, David became "a man after God's own heart."

THOUGHT:

"All God's Giants were once weak (3 of 5): Not once, but twice, Abraham claimed his wife was his sister to protect himself. Even still God transformed Abraham into, "the father of those who have faith."

Challenge

When challenged with a tough situation, don't give in to the temptation to lie to protect your image. Be proud of the fact that you're a child of God and never compromise your values.

Verse

And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal on the righteousness received through faith while he was uncircumcised. Thus he was to be the father of all the uncircumcised who believe, so that to them [also] righteousness might be credited,

Character

THOUGHT:

Time is a file that wears and makes no noise.

Challenge

Our thoughts and attitudes (both positive and negative) each minute of each day so subtly shape our character that we often cannot detect their constant presence nor the form we are becoming. Ask God today for the courage and the optimism to think positive so that you can best fulfill His plan for you.
