You search the scriptures, because you think you have eternal life through them; even they testify on my behalf. But you do not want to come to me to have life.

THOUGHT:

Faith and Action Go together.

Challenge

Onward Christian Soldiers – that's you – get up and do something. SHOW your faith. TALK your faith. LIVE your faith.

Verse

So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Indeed someone may say, "You have faith and I have works." Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.

THOUGHT:

I do not merely want to possess faith; I want faith to possess me.

Challenge

Don't be content solely with the knowledge of your faith; also become immersed in the love that being faithful to Christ brings. Love God and let Him possess you.

Verse

B. Offerings to Idols Chapter 8 - Knowledge Insufficient. Now in regard to meat sacrificed to idols: we realize that “all of us have knowledge”; knowledge inflates with pride, but love builds up. If anyone supposes he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if one loves God, one is known by him.

Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more, you should never wish to do less.

Challenge

To be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in performing the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering up of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the holy Spirit.

THOUGHT:

When you focus on things that are wrong in your world, you will refuse to enjoy life until those things are "fixed."

Challenge

The problem: those things will never be "fixed." Instead of focusing on things that are wrong, focus on what is good, and if you see things from God's perspective, everything is good.

Verse

God looked at everything he had made, and found it very good. Evening came, and morning followed - the sixth day.

THOUGHT:

One of the principle elements of human nature is the craving to be appreciated.

Forgiveness

Posted on October 16, 2019

THOUGHT:

To carry a grudge is like being stung to death by one bee.

Challenge

Holding a grudge does less to hurt the person with whom you have a grudge than it hurts you. If you are holding a grudge right now, pray that it's sting will be removed from your life so you can start healing.

Priorities

Posted on October 15, 2019

THOUGHT:

Devoting a little of yourself to everything means committing a great deal of yourself to nothing.

Challenge

In today's world with so much to offer and so little time, it is difficult to devote ourselves to one thing. However, there is one thing we should devote ourselves to: Loving God over anything else. Ask God today for the wisdom to align your priorities so you can devote more time to serving Him and His kingdom.

Verse

God and Money. No one can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Dependence on God.

Discipleship

THOUGHT:

One of the most surprising things I've learned recently about the bible is that it contains the word "lukewarm." Such a modern word for such an ancient document. Do you know how it was used?

Challenge

Jesus was very unhappy and disappointed with those who were "lukewarm" in their faith and beliefs. Starting today, turn up the heat on your faith, your beliefs and your actions so that you will never have the appearance of being "lukewarm." Pray that your actions influence others to "turn up the heat!"

Verse

I know your works; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.

Remember, to say, 'I love you" to your loved ones, but most of all mean it.

What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but handed him over for us all, how will he not also give us everything else along with him?
